The one lie I’ve been telling myself
On Sunday night, I was craving chocolate and the only chocolate we had in the house were mini chocolate chips.
(PRO TIP: mini chocolate chips are my go-to for all cookies now. I digress.)
Instead of eating them by the handful again (guilty!) I made chewy chocolate chip cookies; they were amazing and really hit the spot.
And extra credit: I knew they were toddler approved because our daughter kept repeatedly signing “more” and shouting “more” while she still had cookies in her mouth.
The next day, (yes, we ate all of them in one day!) I had the same craving and made another quick batch.
While making this second batch, I realized that I had used baking powder the day before and the recipe actually called for baking soda! OOPS!
I kept hearing in my head, “aren’t there “rules” about the difference between baking soda and powder??!!”
They tasted delicious and it didn't seem like a problem.
So I made them “correctly” and waited eleven minutes + time to cool (lol, no, I didn’t).
And you’ll never guess what happened next!!!
My whole life I’ve been telling myself a lie, there’s only one recipe to follow when it comes to making cookies. The cookies that I made with the baking powder “incorrectly” were actually WAY better than when I made them with the baking soda.
Why am I telling you this?
Because a lot of times we are thinking we’re doing something wrong when it actually could be better if we tried something different.
This could be personal or professional life.
Do you feel overwhelmed by all of the things you “should” be doing?
Do you feel like your lack of motivation is the hardest you’re dealing with right now?
Do you feel like you just have to go to your job because you “should” be grateful just to have one?
The truth is if you feel a “should” whispering (or yelling) in your head, it’s probably a clue to trying something new.
Your career journey can be easy!
Your personalized career recipe (see what I did there?) has to be something that YOU want to be doing.
Something that lights you FK up. I want to see you lit up.
