I’m famous
April Fool's 😂 I'm almost famous! 🙌
I took off the past seven days to celebrate my birthday, get some R&R, and take my first vacation since December 2020.
To be honest, it was quite challenging to disconnect from my work because I finally really love what I do.
I was eventually able to go to the park and being out of sunshine practice, got a bad sunburn on my back.
Yesterday, I dove into Mama Pacific Ocean and though it was cold AF, it really helped to wash off the winter scales, the pandemic woes and other un-expressable things that have been bottled up inside. Can you relate?
In the midst of my vacation, a podcast that I recorded with the lovely Monica Rodgers, on The Revelation Project called, “Career Alignment with Nic Frick” went live yesterday.
And because I wanted to “stay offline” as a commitment to myself and my rest, I avoided really posting about it or sharing it. It felt wrong.
And when I checked in with my gut (I’m a human design generator - I know, shocking), it was clear that would love to do a few posts and send it to a couple friends who could listen right away.
I loved talking with Monica, and a colleague of mine described the conversation like this:
“Your connection with Monica was very pure and very wonderful to listen to and be a part of. I felt like I was leaning in on someone else’s conversation and that felt very special to me”
Oh la la.
In the podcast, Monica and I cover:
In 2017, before becoming a mother, Nic decided to name it “The Year of Nicole” to explore what self-love was really about. She learned, healed, and acquired many tools she now uses in her work with women.
Usually, women have to look at their careers in tandem with their self-care, because these are deeply connected.
Self-care means investigating your thoughts.
We have to nourish ourselves and then give to others from our overflow.
Women have been taught the mentality of scarcity mindset through the patriarchy, but it's important to invest in ourselves, now more than ever.
Nurturing yourself can be taking a lunch break, which can mean a profound shift. Women invest 90% of their income in their family and their community while men invest 30%.
Most women at work are facing burnout.
"It's going to be hard to find a job if I don't have a job" is a cultural lie that keeps us stuck.
Please listen and share with one person in your life who would benefit from it.
Love,
Nic
